Wendy Buckley-Stokes has been in agriculture all her life. “I grew up on a 68-acre pear ranch in the heart of the Delta,” she says. “In high school I worked at a pear packing shed, tight filling boxes. In college I spent my summers working for the USDA inspecting team. After all that you either love the agriculture business or you hate it. I love it.”
In fact, she loves it so much she’s a 4th generation Delta farmer. In addition to being a Sales and Marketing Representative at Rivermaid, she owns her own farming business, growing apples, cherries, wine grapes and alfalfa. “I’m really proud to be an American farmer, helping to feed people throughout the world,” says Wendy.
After working for a number of companies in the industry, Wendy retired to market the produce from her own farm, but then decided to join RTC in August of 2013. “I really enjoy being part of the RTC team. Together, we have tons of experience in the produce industry. I also love the diversity of the products that RTC has to offer its customers.”
Busy as she is, Wendy manages to reserve time for community involvement, having served on the boards of Restore the Delta, Lodi High School FFA Ag Boosters, the Junior League of Sacramento and the Cal Pear Advisory Board.
