First commercial variety of the season. Cross between
a Burlat and a Rainier. Generally large (10 1/2 row
). Bi-color (red with a light to white shoulder).
Broad shoulders. Sub-acid. Very well-liked by all
markets. Biggest negative, very susceptible to rain
cracks. Main production areas are the southern and
Central San Joaquin Valley.
