California’s Best Asparagus

Rivermaid Trading Company grows asparagus in California’s fertile Sacramento River Delta east of the San Francisco Bay and west of Lodi.

We harvest our asparagus when spears emerge in springtime. Individual spears are harvested by hand when they are approximately 9 inches long and show compact tight heads and good green color.

Harvest typically begins in Mid-February and becomes abundant in March, April and May.

Our asparagus is shipped within hours of harvest in specially designed crates for safe arrival in markets around the world.

Asparagus Packaging Information

We pack all of our asparagus in various sizes of composite corrugated plastic crates including:

  • 30lb pyramid crate, bunched
  • 30lb pyramid crate, loose
  • 15-17lb half-pyramid crates, bunched
  • 15-17lb half-pyramid crates, loose

Rivermaid Asparagus is available in the following standard sizes:

  • Extra large: (10/16” solid circle image) Not less than 10/16” in diameter
