SUSTAINABILITY

Rivermaid Trading Company invests in sustainable farming. Solar powered energy in our Lodi packing and cold storage facilities allows us to power 60 percent of our electricity needs with renewable energy. We also use recycled plastic in all packaging for our products, all our cardboard is recycled and have a recycled water program for landscaping at our facilities.

We farm using the most sustainable practices, like Integrated Pest Management and advanced irrigation technology, to reduce the use of crop inputs and pesticides.

We also offer organic options for both pears and cherries. Rivermaid is proud to grow and pack pears under the famous ‘Joe Green’ organic label. All organics sold by Rivermaid are certified by California Certified Organic Farmers, which is a USDA National Organic Program accredited organic certification agency

WE INVEST IN SUSTAINBLE FARMING, PRIORITIZE FOOD SAFETY AND NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT TO US THAN THE WELFARE OF THE EMPLOYEES WHO MAKE UP THE RIVERMAID FAMILY.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Nothing is more important to us than the safety and welfare of the employees who make up the Rivermaid Trading Company family. We’re very proud of the fact that so many of our talented seasonal employees return to work for us year after year. We wouldn’t be the company we are today without them.

Rivermaid proudly endorses a program known as the Ethical Charter on Responsible Labor Practices, which publicly demonstrates our commitment to workplace safety, respect for worker dignity, compliance with all applicable legal requirements and to building
coordinated action across the produce industry for responsible labor practices.

At Rivermaid, we believe in investing in our employees who make our company great. We’re very proud of the fact that many of the managers throughout our operations began as part-time season employees.

As a tool to equip our employees for advancement, Rivermaid offers classes for any employee who wishes to learn to speak English. The courses last three months with schedules that are flexible enough to accommodate work hours and still ensure ample time for our employees to spend with their families. Both beginning and advanced courses are available with instruction provided by a credentialed language teacher.
